Energy Efficient Doors

We think the world of our doors. That’s why they’re designed with a healthier planet in mind. Our solid unglazed door set achieves a U Value of 1.0 and an energy rating of A, while our half glazed door achieves a `U` Value of 1.4 and an energy rating of C, we even offer the option of a thermal argon upgrade to further improve the U Value – great numbers for keeping the digits on your energy bills low.

From day one we chose to use a calcium zinc based compound in the extrusion of the door frame (which we make in different lengths to avoid waste) because it’s much kinder to the planet than lead based additives. The doors inner rigid foam system is completely, utterly, one hundred percent CFC-free.

We’ve taken big steps to reduce our own carbon footprint, too. Our doors are made right here in the UK, unlike the products of other door companies. We carefully plan all our delivery routes to cut down the amount of fuel we use. Other manufacturers look at our doors and go green with envy - we’re just greener.

U Values

From October 2010 all new doors will have to adhere to a door U value rating of 1.8W/m2K or less. Each and every composite door that we supply is U value compliant.

Every door purchased from GRP Composite Doors UK will come with a free certificate showing you its unique U value - based on expert data from the Building Research Establishment and BFRC. You get the reassurance of knowing your door meets tough new government standards as well as proof of how well your door performs at keeping the heat in your home and saving you money on your energy bills.

Energy Efficient Glazing

Whilst every new door we supply already confirms to the 2010 energy regulations, the thermal glass upgrade option will improve even further the rating of the door by the inclusion of low e glaass, argon filled and warm edge spacer to achieve the most thermally efficient door.

This will improve the U Value on most doors by 0.4W/mwK.
